Air pollution in Jakarta is bad
1 min read
Breathing in Jakarta is free. It's just not great for you.
The WHO says air should have less than 5 µg/m³ of PM2.5. Jakarta did 34 last year. And that was a good year.
Where it comes from
- Cars and motorbikes. Most of it.
- Coal plants. A lot of it.
- Burning trash. Because why not.
What you can do
- Check the AQI before you go out. Above 100, skip the run. Your lungs will thank you.
- Wear an N95. Not the cloth one with the cute print.
- Get an air purifier for your bedroom. You spend a third of your life in there.
- Close the windows. The haze is not a vibe.
- Move to Bali.
So I made AQI Bar. It puts the AQI of your city in your Mac menu bar. Green means go outside. Purple means don't.
It's free, grab it on GitHub.
